We continue to look at Ashtavakra Gita. We actually reach Chapter 7. The material centralization—new to the centralization—and now again Janaka is seeking. The first one says: 'In me, the shoreless ocean, the ark of the universe, moved here and there on the wings of nature, am not impatient.' 'In me, the shoreless ocean, the ark of being, the waters tossed here and there on the wings of its nature, am not impatient.' Include your thoughts, include your imagination, memory, your emotion, sensation, and pleasure. This is all this. And that you exist right now. What is the aware of this? Everything in the appearance. So that existence, can that itself be perceived? This is the first clue. Second clue is that this discovery must be of that which is unchanging. Because something here is tired of the changing. Everything is constantly changing and we are looking for a sense of stability. We're looking for that which remains unchanged. You see, it is undefined reality exists. What is here must be that truth, the unchanging. The truth must be that which remains unchanged. So this Self is also, we see, unchanged.

What is the third clue? Third clue is that it must be our direct insight. It must not be something we have learned, something we have read, something that we just have a concept of or imagination of. We want direct insight. But unlike any other insight, this is the recognition which is not phenomenal. This can sound a bit confusing. If you're looking for blue light, you see this blue light, see a select language, 'I found it.' So looking for a pink elephant, look till you find something that is pink and has the shape of an elephant. But in this case, you are not going to find something objective with this ever attribute, this ever quality. So this recognition will be only non-phenomenal, it will be beyond even space and time. The thing which is beyond time and space, we are coming to the discovery of this shoreless ocean. Has no beginning or end, has no birth or death. All of these are the tools to self-discovery. No concept, no visual can match this. Just as it sells, comes to this beautiful discovery using the pointers, using the clues.

So to me, that all of this is one movement of consciousness. It is moving with only supreme intelligence, that which runs time and space, gravity, electricity, all of these forces. It's so supreme intelligence. So that is doing a job, it is running this already. But I, which is the witness of this world, am neither enhanced nor diminished by it. Very, very subtle also because we say that the absolute, the apparent universal fear, but I mean life. So the absolute, like the potential for the appearance, but unlike potential and manifestation, it's not that something happens to the potential with the manifestation. Because in the middle, remember, so complete, total state, complete in spite of a complete universe coming from the being, very emergent with the appearance of your consciousness. Sage says, 'I am neither enhanced nor diminished, no matter whatever movement.' So in hearing these words, can we take it as a pointer? Let the universe be, whose reality, including the play of your own body, is part of this universe moving, running on its own projector. It's there, the screen is there, all of that light and sound is there. Consciousness is playing this movie. Then extreme like consciousness itself, it's playing, it's making an effort to play as if it is just one of the characters. It is playing as if it is an individual entity, a limited identity.

So again, looking at a phenomenal wedge for your discovery, all the tools are there. Find out that which witnesses all objects and find whether that is itself an object. Is that itself an appearance? They will have a quality. Every given object, everything, has some attribute in its own some form of joy, some color, some feeling, some taste. All these are objects; they have a quality. Is the one witnessing—does that have a quality? You that is perceiving mala tastes, what perceives this? What is aware of this? Does that have a quality? This will be your direct insight. But like all other insights, this insight will not give phenomenal difference. When I say that there is a computer on the table, but a computer on the table, how did you do this? This process of answering is fine. So you perceived an object and saw that this is composed of the shape of a computer. Is there a green apple on the table? I will say no, it's not. See an object like that. But are you aware now? Or did you see this one? You do not see anything in that way, and yet the answer is yes. Even if we won one goal, the seven-year-old child's desire is the same. We will have really grown, which is claiming God. I do what you need for having made in all our choosing.
