Ananta guides seekers to recognize that they are the unchanging awareness independent of all perceptions and concepts. He encourages shifting from a limited body-mind identity to the boundless, self-existent source that remains untouched by experience.

Is your existence dependent on the senses, or is perception dependent on you?

Yes, I'm getting the feedback about the sound quality and also this consistency that we get a difference in the recording for these rooms. The sound is better in a few days. Suppose a blue car crossed your path. A blue car crossed your path; now what do you see? You are aware of the blue car or not? You say that you are aware. Likely what you're saying is that you are aware of the perception, aware that you see this blue car. In the same way, if something happens, means that there is a pain in the body, you are aware of the perception of it. Same for thoughts, emotions, any sensation. Now, when the perception of it comes and goes, do you also come and go? Suppose one second that blue car is there, next second the perception of the blue car is not here. Is your existence dependent on the senses or is perception dependent on you?

Ananta

So when they say to say that you are independent of things coming and going, do you see that all things that are coming and going are being perceived? You are that which is aware of this perception and remains untouched no matter what the perception might be. So this 'you' which is independent of perception, is it real or is it just a made-up concept? This is what this exploration is about. So we're asking: what is real about you? It means, what is it that does not come and go? Why is this important to us? Because we are looking for that stability. We're looking for that unchanging. And so far, we've considered ourself to be something that changes. We have considered ourselves to be this body, which is changing. And if not, we have considered ourselves to be some object other than the body, or we've considered ourselves to be a concept like the soul. But even concepts are always changing. So even in that formation, you don't find yourself.

Ananta

But if there is something deeper than perception and conception, deeper than object and concept, could it be then this discovery is very simple? Would it be that I just asked you: are you aware now? And you in this very moment see that this awareness is neither an object nor just a concept. Is it so? Am I aware now? Did you see an object? And even if you did find an object, ask yourself: who is aware of this? And whether you are independent of this object or this object is independent of you? You will find that all experiences depend on your existence, but you are independent of all objects. Similarly to you, I lost the concept of awareness. I am answering it in the same inquiry that your answer is the word 'Ram' because it's your concept of it. Or I was considering it in the way we're asking what is 374 minus 215? There you're using your reasoning, you're using your intellect. But 'am I aware now?' Do you see this awareness as an object? Do you see it as a box? You'll find it as a phenomenon. And the true answer is no. What that beauty is then, what a phenomenon is that, more necessary than the awareness itself? Is this awareness dependent on some perception? From your own insight, you know. Is it dependent on some perception? No. Perception or no perception, would you still be here? Point is, who is aware of the space between us? Who is aware of anything? Who is aware of your existence? And is that which is aware doing any of this?

Ananta

What is that which is self-existent without any support, without any crutches? What is that which is existent even before the quality of existence, the quality of being? And what is your position in this? Being is recognizing itself. All of this area of perception and it is recognizing its own source. And that which is beyond perception, beyond that which you can perceive, is the Self. You can see this. The dynamic, active Brahman, consciousness, it is as if it is a limited entity within all of these perceptions. Then it is the grain, it is the suffering of the mind. You have been conditioned to believe that you are just this big toe of one of the great bugs. Is that there? It would seem constricting. It would seem like something is not right. Now, as we consider ourselves just this body, that is why we have felt so much constriction. And as we are investigating, we are finding that you are not just this.

Ananta

Suppose you were taught to believe that you are just this fingernail and you had a voice which is constantly talking. While this one thing that I am saying, this fingernail points to this, it means to be cleaned, it allows growth, it says that. And then you were learning tricks to how to make the fingernail better. You were learning how to manifest things for the fingernail. You who are learning all of these things, but you consider yourself to be only the fingernail. What would you tell such a one talking to you? You'd say, 'Look beyond just for a bit. What else is there? Is that really you?' In the same way, but much more exaggerated—so for some of you it might sound like I'm exaggerating with using the big toe as an example or the fingernail as an example—but you know, it is much more exaggerated if a true consciousness is believing itself to be just this body, 'my body', with the story of the mind. What is that? We live for a while, we were so conditioned to believe this limitation about ourselves that we need some clues. How do I find this real me? And after I have believed myself to be this fingernail for so long, please tell me how I am something else.

And I can feel that there is something genuine being spoken here in the light of the direct experience here. Then you will see that the pointers that have been shared—which is: what is it that does not come and go? What is the health that is in the coming and going of all things?—is itself already being this unbound timelessness. And what is the usual response? 'But what will happen in the middle field? What will happen to life in the middle?' The usual response when I say that will be fine, it is connected to something much larger which is moving in the light of the Supreme intelligence, it'll be just fine. But the mind will come and say, 'But well, but how can I make sure I wasn't this just to make my head look better?' All this for a fancy brand of nail polish. Better go to what you were telling me. You are so much bigger than you think. The funny thing is that all of us, deep in our heart, we know the truth. We don't know how to use it. Deep in our heart, apparently, we know the truth. The world is a bit busy right now. We say, 'This body is not looking like itself.' Do you see that? 'I will get some rest only after I die.' You see, all these thoughts are just very all over the place for you. But truly, when it comes to what is it that I am, we know somewhere intuitively that I'm not just this thing.

Ananta

I tell you that many, many such worlds over time, many, many such worlds have come and gone for you. Many, many such bodies have come and gone. Many experiences, many lives, all these things have happened, but you have remained unmended. Well, whatever might have come and gone, believe those births and deaths you have seen through. Every day you die and every day you wake up, and even nothing is bigger than you. Let that become some fuel for some spiritual fantasy, let that become some inspiration for your own direct insight about yourself. In whose light is this world appearing right now? What light is that, that if it went away, the world would not be? The sun disappeared behind some dark cloud, there will be a dark world which is still existent. But what about your light? What is that? What is that consciousness, that being you? And so it reads itself. In whose light does the sun exist? If you want to talk, then what is before electricity? If you can't inquire, then also just be quiet. Otherwise, it might seem to others that there is some running commentary going on. Something is being shared, some true meaning that we get about our own existence, and something is important which is being shared, and then we don't constantly take that away.

Ananta

So what is it in the light of which all of this is on? All of this exists in whose light? What is the 'I' that is independent of everything else? What is here that is aware of all things? That is here, that is independent of all states? What does not go to sleep or wake up? What is that for whom all of these things, all of these states, are just coming and going? What witnesses the body? What is witnessing the perception of all these sounds? Is that disturbed or undisturbed? It's always the same, being unchanging. So let's go through it. Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi does this in such a simple way with the simple inquiry: Who am I? Who am I? And if I am that, then who is this one that I always considered myself to be? My thoughts? What is real about me? Am I just something which will go away in 20 years, 40 years, 50 years? You do not have a name. You immerse yourself in this environment and you will find that this fire which has pointed for so long to that which is changing will start to point to that which is eternal, which is timeless. That your worldly existence has always been taken care of. It's always been taken care of, even when it seemed like it is a mess. Should I say especially when?

Ananta

In what light does anything exist? Or you didn't ask: in what light is anything born? In what light is anything perceived? As you get to the root of all of these entities, you will see that their existence, their 'is-ness', all these final forces of attention and belief, all of them are just yourself. And all qualitative distinctions stop to matter so much. Then you will see that there is only the Self. But as long as we're still attached to qualities, especially using the term 'mind', then these political differences can seem to matter a lot. You see what I mean when I say 'politically'? When we stop being so concerned about the poverty of our so-called eternal life, the poverty of our being, the quality of our car, then there is a genuine contentment about just existence. This feeling is more harmonious. What is it? Just a slight digression: all of us, even at the worldly level, if you say what do we want, we say we want happiness. Now, what is happiness? Happiness is inner harmony. And the biggest impediment for this inner harmony is this sense of 'this is it, just me.' And usually, it is found that many, many, many spiritual paths teach you that you must get rid of desire. Big trouble with that, because it is not so dual. Desire happens when you see yourself as what you are. You see why they move left to desire already? So if the inquiry, although it might seem to shake up a lot of things, also has a byproduct until you get all this happiness, this peace, this inner harmony. It was this desire, you're not seeing us both in agreement. Really, when you consider yourself to be only with this sort of boundary, then you can say 'I want that also.' This is the whole thing about desire: wanting something which doesn't seem like it is you, and trying to hold on tight to something which you consider already mine.

Ananta

So as we talk, you see yourself for what you are. Once you start to see that this boundary—'it is mine', this definition, this limitation—is just coming from the mind, then this poking desire falls away. So don't try to give up desire itself; find out who you really are and then you show me desire. This is like I keep saying sometimes, I'm like that several of you know these, and there you find on the roadside you will find some people who are selling these small bottles, 10 rupees each. Small red color liquid is there. No matter what your application is, I will tell you the same water and they just have this. It is that's what I've been saying: that all confusion actually is a confusion about who you are. What the matter with it is, is confusing the object with you. Your thoughts are telling you this, that the language which is luminous essence, let's go of these together, retain the methods. Till then, enjoy this trouble of trying to, as it is about Bhagavan, most of the time I know it's not easy. Some join this, you really become... it is not spiritual search, but reactions, violent tendencies, reaction to... if you hold on to the smallness, the sense of identity, and then try to get my heel over the world, then this seems like a lot more violent spirituality. What pressure force you operate from both sides, you see?

Ananta

I don't know why it might seem like a very timid conclusion to come to, 'I don't know.' But in this 'I don't know', a lot of this violence goes away. The force of trying to achieve something for ourselves, we just like this 'I don't know' what's in the red book. I don't know why struggle is not so much, but it's not exactly... yes, yes, this tiger poisoner. Even that conclusion that what I am perceiving is part of me, put in a spot there, it is also fine if it is very good. But even if that is not there, it is very good to decide what those ordinances... is not disease. Is that girl always variation? He should let later person to the lost... he's pretty much, 'Well, I don't know who I am.' Is that not moving? Is it a cool topic in itself? Do you know that you know? No more sadness of PowerPoint. Keep that one over here. This is how big our... so good they get frustrated, so we just happy to remain of them initially. Of course, you can see what's happening where the identity, all that is being taken away. After a while, you'll start enjoying you not having the mixing of this movie. You come to a point where if somebody tries to tell you, 'So you need because I once to twice its first hour I was reading Facebook, you don't want spirit soul even here.' What is going to be one for you because you want to be a sure as I will see? No video, please leave that 'I don't know' is not bad behavior.

Ananta

You really told me in across hundreds of the heart sealant and he says, and except you have to help you with your course with my first question because I don't even know that we say somewhere this is very good because moving messes things up. All their pain is both about rascal as mistaken identity. He was using a lot of pills come here, so we will call you on any terms. Let this to panic attack, anxiety attack was happening for them. So then I also go to physically the zombie thing going on like fever or something is there. So I send them to the doctor and doctor said you would have malaria. Malaria or dengue, both of them are quite strong business. And this one was so happy, so happy because they do rotor hand. So one of this lack of creation of this, this emptiness not being a nifty battlefield, this consecutive mind is what we'll look. Well, thank you so much for being in satsang today. It seems today the audio with me back to piercing where they get one word over for the work on this new internet. Seems fine today, it seemed like audio is also people. Audio command.
