Saar (Essence)

Ananta invites seekers to shift focus from phenomenal appearances to the source, inquiring into the unchanging awareness that exists prior to existence itself and remains untouched by the play of light and sound.

What is it that is aware of your existence? Is it dependent on the play of light and sound?
Is there a you which remains untouched, witnessing all that is changing in the phenomenal world?
You cannot logic your way to the answer; it is an invitation to a deeper, unfolding insight.

Ananta

So much of our focus, time, and attention goes on the appearances of phenomena, sensations, that which is here on this side of the 'I am'. So once you exist, you see that in the light of this existence itself, this entire phenomena plays out. And it is a compelling play. As much of our time has gone in identifying as objects within this phenomena, we have considered ourselves to be something which is appearing on the light of your being.

Ananta

So when I ask you the question: 'What is aware of even this existence?' it is actually an invitation to check on something which is prior to this primal anomaly. That which I call is on this side—there are no sides here, but this is a metaphor to explain—this side of your existence is the entire play of all that is phenomenal. It's fine; we've been interested in that and that is fine. But the invitation now is to just check if there is something else there beyond that which is phenomenal.

Ananta

And any of these pointers, the tools which the sages have provided us, can be used to check: What is that which is aware of your existence? Is it dependent on the play of light and sound? Is it dependent on everything else? Everything here in the play depends on your existence. You cannot have the experience of it unless you exist. What about that which is aware even of existence? What can we say about that?

Ananta

And if for some, we can be unconcerned about what that discovery means at the level of our feelings, at the level of our minds, the level of our body, at the level of our relationships. If just for a moment you're not concerned about the meaning of this discovery for anything phenomenal, only with this simple question: What is it that is aware of my existence? Who is it that is aware of my existence?

Ananta

If it is you, what 'you' is this? And if it is not you, can you see it is another you? Is it possible to be beyond sensations and perceptions? The 'you' which remains untouched no matter what might be playing in the phenomenal world. Is there a 'you' which remains untouched, which witnesses all that is changing? That which is aware of all change—is that itself changing?

And you cannot infer this answer. You cannot calculate this answer. You cannot logic your way to the right answer. It is just an invitation to a deeper insight. It has to unfold on its own. That which is aware of all that is changing—is that itself changing?
